We welcome a new month this weekend as the Premier League returns for November, and with that comes [Fantasy Premier League](https://fantasy.premierleague.com/) - back for Gameweek 10.
The Gunners, having gone throughout October with a remarkable 100% winning run and a perfect defensive record, head to Turf Moor to take on newly-promoted Burnley - who approach the contest on the back of an away win at Wolves in GW9.
EZE POINTS HAUL
---------------
Our 1-0 success over Crystal Palace in our last Premier League outing saw Ebere Eze (£7.6m) secure his first double-digit points haul of the season, reuniting to haunt his former club with a sumptuous finish. Ebere helped himself to a team-high 11 points, while Gabriel (£6.5m) maintained his superb run with a nine-point total, and Declan Rice (£6.7m) rewarded his growing number of owners with seven points.
Of all the defenders across the English top-flight, we continue to boast three of the top four point-earners in the shape of Big Gabi, Jurrien Timber (£6.1m) and Riccardo Calafiori (£5.8m). Only Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven (£4.7m) - who hit 23 points in GW9 against Everton after scoring a brace - has gatecrashed that top four, with his goalscoring exploits helping him to third place.
Our weekend opponents Burnley have provided several popular options for FPL managers across the globe, often for the purpose of budget management. Of these, midfield choice Jaidon Anthony (£5.7m) tops the charts, having secured 45 points - albeit the lion’s share of these returns coming during a purple patch between GW2 and GW6. Forward Zian Flemming is available for just £5.3m and is owned by a meagre 0.1% of managers despite bagging 13 points against Wolves last weekend.
Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka (£4.0m) has become a mainstay ‘set and forget’ option as one of the two goalkeepers in over 34% of teams due to his basement price, while on the contrary, starting full-back Quilindschy Hartman has hit 34 points at a £4.0m fee - yet still owned by fewer than 1%.
FORM OR FIXTURES?
-----------------
The fixture difficulty algorithm used by FPL has long been relied upon to dictate a Fantasy manager’s next move. However, the tide is turning among much of the FPL community, and a lot of managers are overlooking the fixture list in favour of form, whether that regards teams or individual players.
The Premier League has thrown up plenty of surprise results already, with none of the promoted trio currently inside the bottom three, whose players are becoming gold dust for FPL managers. Burnley’s leading points-scorer Anthony is a prime example, as he scored three times during a daunting run of opponents including Liverpool, Man City and Manchester United.
Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs (£4.6m) has earned more points than any other between the sticks in the first nine Gameweeks, and his 52-point total is likely to earn the Dutchman a third-straight week of over 100,000 new purchases. Just six points short of Roefs is teammate Nordi Mukiele - a £4.1m long-throw specialist who has goals, DefCons and clean sheets to his name - while Wilson Isidor (£5.6m) up top is gaining popularity following his fourth goal this term. Arsenal are among Sunderland’s upcoming opponents along with Liverpool, Manchester City and in-form Bournemouth, but many are overlooking these tough fixtures to earn hauls via the form table.
In the lead for Leeds is Joe Rodon, a defender adept in both boxes and currently topping the Whites’ charts with 44 points. The £4.1m star grabbed 13 of those against West Ham last week, but his next-highest week hauls have arrived against tough opponents in Newcastle and Everton, while Sean Longstaff, only £4.9m despite his regular attacking play and set-piece responsibilities, has enjoyed two of his three best Gameweek totals against high-flying Bournemouth and former side Newcastle.
As debated [in the build-up to GW9](https://www.arsenal.com/news/fpl-focus-surprise-packages-and-bargain-buys) against Liverpool, Brentford striker Igor Thiago (£6.2m) has excelled against tougher opponents - having bagged a brace against Man United - and continued his fine form against the Reds as he weighed in with another from the penalty spot.
KEEP THE FAITH?
---------------
With every surprise package comes a player who has failed to live up to their previous FPL heroics, a tantalising starting price or a decent run of fixtures, and a few big names are now being shipped out on a wholesale basis.
While Mohamed Salah (£14.3m) won the battle of the ultra-premiums last year with a record-breaking total, Salah’s ownership has spiralled from over 60% to just over 27% over the course of nine weeks, and he is far from the only casualty in this regard.
Chelsea forward Joao Pedro saw his starting price of £7.5m rise considerably to £7.8m following a solid start, hauling in three consecutive weeks between GW2 and GW4. However, the Brazilian has blanked in every Gameweek since and is now back to his original price - and despite maintaining an ownership above 50% due to a favourable run of fixtures, Pedro has been ditched on a large scale as many managers opt to pair Erling Haaland with a budget option like Thiago, Isidor or Brighton’s former Gunner, Danny Welbeck (£6.4m).
Another with mass appeal this summer was Manchester City arrival Tijjani Reijnders, and his start to life in the Premier League - to the beaming smile of his many FPL owners - could not have gone much better when he racked up 10 points on his debut against Wolves. However, aside from a nine-point haul at Emirates Stadium from our 1-1 draw in September, the Dutchman has failed to register more than three points in any Gameweek. Since last weekend's loss at Villa Park, Reijnders has been sold by over 450,000 managers, with Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle set to present the next batch of fixtures for City.
What is without doubt is these players’ capability of turning their form around in the coming weeks. Fantasy Football will forever be a game of chance as much as skill, and the luck of the risk-averse often runs thin in the end.
