We’re on the road again on Saturday as we head to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, and often when the sides meet, drama is in store.
There have been a few late victories recorded in Lancashire, as well as other excellent performances at one of English football’s most traditional venues - plus the odd screamer or two!
To jog your memory of matches from bygone years, we’ve dusted off the archives to take a look at some of our best wins against the Clarets:
January 6, 2008
Burnley 0-2 Arsenal
Before Burnley had made it into the Premier League, we locked horns in the FA Cup back in 2008 and the Championship strugglers threatened a shock when Kyle Lafferty hit the bar with an early header, but after nine minutes Kolo Toure clipped a pass over the defence for Eduardo to run onto and he finished with ease to score his sixth goal in four games.
The hosts tried to level and went close through Robbie Blake and Chris McCann, but Gilberto saw a header cleared off the line before Lafferty was red-carded on the hour mark. With the numerical advantage, we secured passage to the fourth round when Nicklas Bendtner rounded Gabor Kiraly with 15 minutes to go.

Burnley 0-1 Arsenal
Having beaten Burnley by a single goal in stoppage time 12 months prior, the Clarets would have been sensing deja vu as we once again left it as late as possible to snatch victory. The Clarets began well and Petr Cech tipped a Johann Berg Gudmundsson blast onto the post, but Nacho Monreal was a whisker away from netting from long range as we came into the contest.
We remained frustrated after the break and after Jack Wilshere saw a deflected shot beat Nick Pope but not find the net, it looked like it wouldn’t be our day, until in stoppage-time, James Tarkowski pushed over Aaron Ramsey, and just as he did in the previous meeting, Sanchez converted from 12 yards to see us deny Sean Dyche’s side yet again.

Burnley 1-3 Arsenal
Things were a lot more straightforward on the final day of the following campaign as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tried to chase down Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at the top of the Golden Boot standings, and when he was gifted a chance to open the scoring on 52 minutes by Ben Mee, the red-hot striker took it.
Aubameyang then needed one more goal to draw level with the Reds duo, and it duly arrived 11 minutes later when he blasted home a volley from a deft Alex Iwobi cross to move onto 22 league strikes for the campaign. Ashley Barnes quickly pulled one back to keep the contest going, but in the final few seconds, 19-year-old Eddie Nketiah squeezed home his first Premier League goal to seal fifth place for Unai Emery's team.

Burnley 0-1 Arsenal
This visit to Turf Moor saw us again sneak away with another narrow win, thanks to a moment of magic from Martin Odegaard. After Bukayo Saka was brought down outside the box, our Norwegian midfielder whipped a fine shot over the wall and into the net to score his first goal since making his move from Real Madrid permanent.
It looked as though the Clarets would be handed a chance to equalise after the break when Aaron Ramsdale was adjudged to have brought down Matej Vydra inside the box, however VAR offered the referee a chance to review the footage which showed our shot-stopper got the ball first - ensuring “one-nil to the Arsenal” rang around the famous old ground yet again at full-time.

Burnley 0-5 Arsenal
Having beaten West Ham United 6-0 away from home the week before, we went goal crazy on our travels once again at the expense of Burnley. Odegaard opened the scoring again on four minutes before Saka took centre-stage, squeezing home a penalty and lashing home a fierce drive either side of half-time.
After that, it was just a question of how many we would score, and another couple would be added as Leandro Trossard curled home before Kai Havertz wrapped up the rout with a fine individual goal to move two points behind Liverpool at the Premier League summit.
