Manchester City loanee Claudio Echeverri wants to return to River Plate, according to Argentine journalistRenzo Pantich. The 19-year-old is unhappy with his situation at Bayer Leverkusen and has started to push for a move back to Argentina.
Pantich revealed that Echeverri’s recent social media post caught River’s board off guard. The message hinted at frustration, and club officials did not expect the player to act so soon.
“Echeverri wants to return to River and has begun to apply pressure from his side,” the journalist reported. He added that River have not taken any action yet because they did not see this coming.
The midfielder, on loan from Manchester City, has played only 127 minutes for Leverkusen across all competitions. His frustration grew after being left out of the squad for their Thursday cup match against Paderborn, a second-tier German side.
Echeverri’s stance now creates tension for both Manchester City and Leverkusen. His adaptation in Europe has been slow, and a return to River could become an active topic if his situation does not improve soon.
