Tottenham Hotpur have no plans to cash in on club-record signing Dominic Solanke in the January transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur prioritised bringing in attacking reinforcements in the summer after last season’s Europa League success. They signed Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel to fortify the forward line and provide Thomas Frank the tools to compete in the Premier League and Champions League.
However, they failed to address one big hole in the squad that is currently haunting Thomas Frank the most. The lack of a prolific centre-forward has been well-documented, leading to the Lilywhites dropping points in both Premier League and Champions League. The current options do not possess the quality to put the ball in the back of net with regularity.
Richarlison has started the season as Thomas Frank’s first-choice No.9. After a bright start, he has gone completely off the boil. Randal Kolo Muani, signed on loan from PSG on deadline day, is still getting up to the speed and intensity of the Premier League after recently returning from a dead leg.
Tottenham’s club-record signing, Dominic Solanke has endured a forgettable 2025/26 campaign thus far. The centre-forward has played just 49 minutes in all competitions so far this season, with a niggling ankle problem keeping him out of action since their 2-0 win at Manchester City in August. The England international underwent a minor ankle surgery at the start of October, sidelining him for weeks.

Tottenham unwilling to listen to offers for Dominic Solanke
Recent reports suggest Spurs could sell Dominic Solanke as early as January. The Danish tactician is “not a fan” of the £65 million striker, whose injuries and inconsistent form have plagued his spell at White Hart Lane.
The 28-year-old was a mainstay in former boss Ange Postecoglou’s side last season, racking up 16 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions. He did suffer a fair share of injury problems in his debut season at Tottenham but timely recovered to start the Europa League final against Manchester United in May.
However, Solanke’s stock has seemingly tumbled sharply. The striker’s persistent ankle issues, coupled with a recent surgery, have added to the uncertainty over his availability, although Frank feels the club-record signing is progressing well step by step. This has naturally led to speculation surrounding his long-term future at the club.
But, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are unwilling to sell Solanke next year. They are prepared to be patient with him as the Englishman remains determined to come back strongly.
Given he has stepped up his recovery on the grass, there has been optimism that the 28-year-old could be back in action in November, but the club are yet to give a specific timeline on his return. Within the club, Solanke is still regarded highly as a player who can provide a new dimension to Tottenham’s attack and improve their goal threat.

Thomas Frank has plans to sign a new striker in January
The report adds Frank willing to cash in on the ex-Bournemouth star in the winter window is “wide of the mark” and the player retains full support of the head coach and the management. There remains confidence that Solanke will score plenty of goals once he overcomes his ankle issue and is integrated properly into the side.
Solanke must be given time to prove himself
Solanke was highly coveted after he bagged 21 goals for Bournemouth during the 2023/24 season. Tottenham went on to bag his signature in 2024 and the Reading-born talent did play a significant role in the club’s Europa League triumph last term.
While the £65 million spent on Solanke was a huge outlay, it would be incredibly harsh for him to be written off as a dud based on his persistent ankle issues. The north Londoners would certainly benefit from additional firepower, but offloading the former Liverpool man after making him the club-record signing only in 2024 would make our club a laughing stock.
All in all, Solanke deserves chances to prove his worth to Frank.
