It’s been a quiet start to life for young Jamie Gittens at Chelsea following his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. He’s been at, or near the bottom of the pecking order at winger for much of the season thus far, impressing sparingly and, as a result, not getting much consistent playing time.
But he now has a signature moment in Chelsea Blue, smacking in a wonderstrike of a goal for our fourth on the day — a goal that turned out to be very much needed in the end to secure our place in the quarterfinals of the League Cup. He also had two assists, contributing directly to three of our four goals (all scored by players 21 and under).
Unlike Gittens, Steve-o already has a signature moment, and he’s enjoying a nice run in front of the net as well with goals in three of his last five appearances for the club (and a couple for Brazil on international duty earlier this month as well). Whether as an impact-sub or as a starter, Estêvão looks to be the real deal.
First appearance on the player ratings podium for young Andrey Santos, who seems to getting more and more comfortable and starting to make a positive impact on the team whenever he plays.
