Footage of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's pregame speech was an unfortunate, embarrassing foreshadowing as the Baltimore Ravens returned to form following the return of superstar Lamar Jackson.
The Dolphins were 2-6 heading into Thursday Night Football, but entered the game off the back of an impressive 34-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, getting back to winning ways following the embarrassing 31-6 defeat to the Cleveland Browns, where franchise QB Tagovailoa threw three interceptions.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel shone a blinding spotlight on Tagovailoa's turnovers as a crucial area for improvement, as his spell in charge of Miami appears to be on its final legs. Tagovailoa had previously called out his teammates this season, and heading into Thursday, he tried to encourage the team — but his words were an unfortunate foreshadowing, as Jackson showed out despite a multi-week layoff due to a hamstring injury.

"We got 60 minutes tonight. Four hours of pain," Tagovailoa declared in the tunnel pregame. Pain it was, as the Dolphins were held to one score inside Hard Rock Stadium, with the Ravens scoring four times to run out 28-6 winners. Tagovailoa also recorded his 11th interception of the 2025 campaign.
Malik Washington and Tahj Washington fumbled the ball alongside Tagovailoa's interception. The quarterback highlighted those mistakes post-game.
"They know they got to hold onto the ball just like any of the guys that are ball carriers, even myself. I know I got to protect the ball," he said.

"They know the same thing. So, it's not about reminding them that, like, hey, you can't do that. Just continuing to encourage them, keep them encouraged, keep their mindset going in the game."
However, when it came to his performance, Tagovailoa shifted some of the blame. The former Alabama quarterback highlighted Ravens fans' noise... inside the Dolphins' stadium.
"The Ravens fans, it maybe got a little muffled with my cadence and, you know, the crowd noise. So, you know, we kind of talked about that on the sideline after and got that corrected," Tagovailoa said.

The Dolphins struggled to get going on offense. "I think for us offensively just started with the little things," Tagovailoa said. "We're off a little bit here on this play, we're off a little bit there on that play, and we just couldn't find our flow in that.

"And then when we did find our flow, we had some penalties, we had some issues going on with that. So I would say first off that all starts with me and got to continue to get our guys better in that aspect.
"But this isn't a game where we're discouraged. It's one of those games where you wish you could have done more or whatever you could to help the guys go out there and execute the way we wanted to execute offensively."
