West Ham could move for Barcelona starlet in January

By Louis Nixon

**The Hammers have taken a liking to La Masia graduate Dro Fernandez and could make a move in January**.

Dro made his debut with the Spanish giants in the Champions League this season, which saw him get an assist in Barcelona’s 6-1 Victory over Olympiacos.

Whilst only 17 years old, the talented prospect is able to play numerous positions such as left-wing, striker and also in an attacking central midfield role.

Throughout playing these positions, he would help Barcelona to win the UEFA Youth League (U19), with that being his first significant achievement in his career. Last season, despite being 16 at the time, he played for the U19 squad, in which he’d make 19 appearances, scoring 7 goals across the campaign.

It is unknown whether Dro Fernandez would be classed as an academy prospect or someone to be involved within the first team, but considering that the Hammers would have to pay a significant fee for the youth player, you’d suspect he’d be winding his way into the first team and become a regular substitute.

Dro Fernandez does play a position similar to current youth player Luis Guilherme, but as time passes, it appears that the Brazilian has fallen out of favour and has been struggling to be involved within the squad since his appearance against Everton.

Fernandez could be an excellent signing for the right price. He’s a young, talented prospect who’s already breaking into the first team at just 17 years of age and could contribute to the first team. Should he be our priority, considering we’re in a relegation fight? Absolutely not, but if we signed our primary targets and got him as a further addition, I certainly wouldn’t say no.
