Chiefs expert shares big secrets for huge conference clash in Week 9

Week 9 is coming up tonight as the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins kick off this week, but the biggest game of this week is taking place in Orchard Park where the [Buffalo Bills](https://buffalowdown.com/joe-brady-lsu-buzz-is-exactly-what-bills-fans-didnt-want-to-see) will be hosting the Kansas City Chiefs for a 4:25PM AFC showdown. We all know the story between the Chiefs and Bills.

Buffalo has Kansas City’s number in the regular season, but the Chiefs are the ones that get the last laugh in the playoffs. Buffalo has beaten the Chiefs in the regular season every year since 2021, but with the way that the Bills are playing this season, they may have a challenge against Kansas City.

While the Bills finally got back into the win column last Sunday, Kansas City has won three consecutive games and has only given up 7 points in their last two games. They won’t be a walkover at all for Buffalo.

Going into this week, we had the chance to catch up with Arrowhead Addict site expert, [Matt Conner](https://arrowheadaddict.com/author/mconner1/), and Conner was able to provide some key insights about the Chiefs going into this highly anticipated matchup.

Bills vs. Chiefs Week 9 insights

--------------------------------

**1.) It's been quite a year for the Chiefs, who started off slow but then have picked up momentum. Who will be the biggest X-factor (not named Patrick Mahomes) for KC going into Buffalo?**

_"Rashee Rice is the linchpin here. He's the most trusted target, and the Chiefs have stated even publicly that they view him as a top 10 NFL wide receiver. That's akin to the Lions adding Amon-Ra St. Brown at midseason. It's made all the difference for an offense that was already finding its rhythm, and as he continues to find his footing returning from more than a year away from the field, he's going to make the Chiefs that much more difficult to stop."_

**2.) What do you believe is KC’s biggest weakness that Buffalo could easily attack?**

_"The shortest path between two points is a straight line, so if the Bills want to disrupt Mahomes, coming right over the middle is the way to go. Trey Smith missed Week 8 with back spasms, and that injury is one to watch because any substitute the Chiefs have at present (most likely Mike Caliendo in a game like this) represents a steep drop in performance. You saw it in the first half against Washington when the Chiefs turned the ball over and were generally frustrated at home."_

**3.) James Cook has been phenomenal this season for the Bills, and will look to be a contributor against KC. How can the Chiefs’ defense limit Cook and make the passing attack beat them?**

_"I'd expect great things for Cook on Sunday. The Chiefs are allowing 4.4 yards/carry, but opponents often don't rack up the overall yardage because they abandon the run trying to keep up offensively. But the Chiefs are soft in the middle. Omarr Norman-Lott is lost for the year, and the defensive interior was already the thinnest position on the roster. Expect K.C. to make a move—trade or signing—to improve things, but that won't happen in time to help them against Buffalo."_
