Fabian Hurzeler and his [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) squad have backed Danny Welbeck for England amid growing suggestions of an international recall for the striker.
Welbeck moved to five Premier League goals for the season when he curled home a free-kick at Manchester United last Saturday.
He will look to add to that tally as Leeds visit the Amex.
International talk was really refuelled when Welbeck scored twice in the most recent home game, against Newcastle.
It has not gone away with increasing reports he could be called in by Thomas Tuchel for the next two games, against Serbia at Wembley and Albania in Tirana next month.
Although the fixtures are World Cup qualifiers, they are effectively preparation for next summer’s tournament given that England have already booked their place as group winners.
Albion head coach Hurzeler revealed today: “I asked a question to the squad, if they think Danny Welbeck can play for England and they all agreed.
“So that was the only time we mentioned it and let's see what happens.”
Asked his own thoughts, Hurzeler said: “I think, yes. I'm very convinced from my players and I have the big belief that Danny Welbeck is able to play for England.
“But I always try to emphasise that England has a great coach and he can will make the right decisions.”
When it was pointed out that Hurzeler’s smile said it all, he laughed and said: “Let's see.”
