Colts' Tyler Warren has to be licking his chops for matchup versus the Steelers

Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren has been as good as the team hoped when he was taken at number 14 in the 2025 NFL draft. He's caught 74 percent of his targets for 492 yards, 15th overall in the league and [first among tight ends](https://horseshoeheroes.com/tyler-warren-already-setting-records-indianapolis-colts).

His most productive game in terms of receiving yards came in Week 2 with 79. That might change in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, however. Pittsburgh has allowed the third-most receiving yards to tight ends this season (555, and just behind Indy in second place), and second-most touchdown catches (6).

In Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers, the Steelers were tormented by Tucker Kraft, who had seven catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Kraft is a very good receiver and a great fit in Green Bay's scheme, but Warren is a tick more athletic, and the Colts know how to use him.

Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren could have a huge game against the Pittsburgh Steelers

The expectation should be that head coach Shane Steichen gets Warren involved often and early, and the TE is especially used on intermediate throws. Kraft saw a lot of open space in that area as well, and if Warren can catch passes freely, special things will happen.

Even Noah Fant of the Cincinnati Bengals had a touchdown catch against the Steelers in Week 7, and Fant went nearly two full seasons with the Seattle Seahawks without getting into the end zone.If Fant can do it once, maybe Warren can do it three times.

To make matters even easier for Pittsburgh, the Steelers cannot solely lock in on trying to fix their deficiency in slowing opposing tight ends against the Colts. Pittsburgh's first priority will be slowing down running back Jonathan Taylor. Warren should be able to play off of this exceedingly well.

Of course, Steichen is on a creative roll with his play-calling, so Pittsburgh won't be able to totally prepare for what is about to come. The Steelers also have never faced Warren, and his athletic ability and high football IQ are also going to make it a challenge for the Steelers.

Tyler Warren could definitely get his first career 100-yard game of his career, but touchdowns matter the most. The rookie has three TDs in his last four games, and could have his first multiple-touchdown game, too.

Of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers can score points, too. Week 9 might be a high-scoring affair between the Indianapolis Colts and Steelers, and [Tyler Warren could be](https://horseshoeheroes.com/five-games-confirmed-everything-indianapolis-colts-fans-thought-tyler-warren) the difference.
