Chelsea make U-turn and want to keep player after agreeing exit

At this point in time, it is hard to see where [Chelsea](https://theprideoflondon.com/chelsea-talks-agree-deal-player-linked-juventus) will go in order to turn their season around. Many might feel that they have the opportunity to do that in the January transfer window, but by that point, realistically, the Blues might have nothing left to play for. They have plenty of important games coming up over the next couple of months and considering how they are playing at the moment, it is hard to imagine that they will find much success.

Some rumours are starting to crop up regarding the long-term future of Enzo Maresca at the club as well. The Italian has been linked with Juventus, while there have been suggestions that Chelsea view Andoni Iraola as their next manager after the job that he has done at Bournemouth.

When it comes to the players, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty as well. For example, it had looked like Tyrique George was certain to leave in January after seeing a late summer move collapse.

But as reported by the Daily Mail (via [Sports Mole](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/chelsea-to-hold-january-talks-with-winger-over-future_584763.html)), Joe Shields called George to let him know that he will be welcomed with open arms to continue playing for Maresca's side. Chelsea do not want to lose the youngster, either on loan or permanently.

A £22 million summer move had been agreed with Fulham, with George set to make the short move to Craven Cottage. But that fell through at the last minute.

Most would have expected George to barely feature until January and then leave. Instead, he has been a regular fixture in Maresca's side. In fact, it looks like the Italian prefers the Cobham graduate to Marc Guiu up top, even though he is a winger.

So, it is not hard to see why Chelsea might be keep George around, with the amount of playing time he is getting at the moment. Now, it remains to be seen what the player thinks.
