Five things we learned as Hurzeler spoke ahead of Albion v Leeds

Here are five things we learned as the head coach took questions at Lancing

### Albion could do with a win

It was pointed out to Hurzeler a couple of times that Albion could do with a win after their tough week on the road.

They were both difficult games and only one was in the league.

But we are not really accustomed to seeing the Seagulls in 13th place and a defeat would send them below Leeds.

Hurzeler was keen to stress the importance of doing things well and the results should follow.

He also spoke about being switched on and not being “lazy” in some areas.

Some of that seemed to refer to the way Arsenal scored their first goal.

He said: We have to do the basic things. We have to commit to each other, we have to sacrifice things.

“But the main thing is, really, do the hard work, do the hard work. Don't be lazy.”

###  Welbeck for England?

The question was asked again – by a Sky Sports reporter who seemed to have some insight from somewhere.

That was interesting and so was the way Hurzeler laughed [when he finished his answers with “Let’s see.”](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/25585866.england-expectancy-grows-brightons-danny-welbeck/?ref=ed_direct)

We understand those in the media closer to the England set-up are being briefed there is a genuine chance Danny Welbeck gets a recall.

The next two games are at Wembley and in Tirana, Albania.

###  Still no Mitoma

The injury news was disappointing as we heard there is STILL no Kaoru Mitoma, Joel Veltman or Brajan Gruda.

Hurzeler expects the same availability as he had at Arsenal on Wednesday, which backs up his assertion that Charalampos Kostoulas is not injured.

We expect line-up changes – and remember Tommy Watson did not start at Arsenal when that perhaps might have been expected.

I asked for more detail on what Hurzeler makes of Watson’s progress and options he offers.

### Georginio progress

Georginio Rutter has spoken to The Argus about facing his old club but what does Hurzeler make of the £30 million record signing from Leeds?

“I see a significant improvement, but I still see more potential in him. I still see that he's capable of doing more decision-making actions on the pitch.

“It's more like being more present, staying alive all the time, being a good hard-worker against the ball, so there's still a lot of potential. But, overall, I think we were all agree that he made really good development so far.”

### The Leeds threat

Hurzeler said he is not surprised to see the three promoted clubs off to decent starts.

In terms of Leeds specifically, he cited their clear style of play, good patterns and discipline in a 4-3-3 shape. He expects them to be intense at the Amex.

, and therefore, free, free shape, very disciplined.
