Jihaad Campbell's inclusion in midseason accolade further vindicates Eagles pick

As the NFL creeps into its midseason point, CBS Sports has released its midseason All-Rookie team for the 2025 season.

To no one's surprise, Linebacker Jihaad Campbell has been recognized as one of the NFL's premier rookies, joining Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger for the midseason honor.

"Jihaad Campbell has been better than expected as a run defender. It was known he would contribute in coverage and as a spot rusher, but Campbell has even more to tap into as a pass rusher. He benefits from having a veteran running mate like Zack Baun next to him."

Eagles fans are enjoying yet another great draft pick with Campbell

Campbell was the Eagles' 2025 first-round pick, continuing the myriad of defensive picks (five in a row) that general manager Howie Roseman has invested in since 2022. Campbell has been one of the Eagles' top-rated players in 2025, according to PFF, and has ranked in the top categories in terms of statistical output as well. Overall, his 83.1 PFF grade is second among all rookies behind Panthers rookie tight end Mitchell Evans.

In addition to his play on the field, many would say he's exceeded expectations this year with his run defense. Campbell consistently grades in the top 15, in addition to playing a significant role in all facets of Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's defensive scheme. Fangio and the Eagles have asked Campbell to rush the passer, play inside in the run fit, and cover tight ends downfield, likening his output to that of Derrick Brooks of the early 2000s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

So far this season, Campbell has registered 45 tackles, one tackle for loss, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one interception halfway through his rookie campaign. He's managed to limit damage in coverage, allowing eight receptions for 66 yards (8.25 yards per carry), while surrendering receptions of 15 yards or more twice this season, and only allowing two first downs while in coverage.

With the Eagles continuing to build and stack young talent, Campbell's production should only increase as he's surround by youthful defenders like Nolan Smith, Nakobe Dean, Jalen Carter, Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo while being led by a veteran like Zack Baun as the youth movement in Philadelphia continues to provide high value for the Eagles defense.
