The New England Patriots enter Week 9 leading the AFC East and a big reason for their success this season is second-year quarterback Drake Maye.

Maye currently leads the league with a 75.2 per cent completion percentage and has already equalled the 15 touchdown passes he threw in his rookie campaign last year.

He also has a stellar 118.7 QB rating.

The 23-year-old comes into Sunday’s game after throwing three touchdowns in a 32-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns last week.

Maye has been on an absolute heater lately throwing the ball as he has eight touchdowns and only one interception in his last three outings.

Prior to the win over the Browns he fired two touchdowns in a 31-13 triumph over the Tennessee Titans and three the week before that in a 25-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Maye also led the Patriots to perhaps their biggest win of the season in Week 5 when they beat the Buffalo Bills 23-20 in a game where he threw for 273 yards, but did not have a touchdown pass.

It is the only game this season where he hasn’t thrown a major.

Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs – 4:25pm ET

Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen has had some of his toughest battles and best performances against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This week, he once again leads the Buffalo Bills against their AFC rivals in what is always one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Allen rushed for two touchdowns, while throwing for 163 yards and another score as the Bills shook off a two-game losing streak with a 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers last week.

The challenge will be much different with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on the other sideline.

Last year the teams met twice. Allen had a passing and rushing touchdown as the Bills earned a 30-21 victory in Week 11 of the regular season, but then had to watch as the Chiefs celebrated a 32-29 win in the AFC Championship, despite another two-touchdown performance from their QB.

That unfortunately has become a familiar refrain for the Bills, regular season success and playoff disappointment at the hands of the Chiefs.

Perhaps the worst of these was when Allen threw for 329 yards and four touchdowns, including the go ahead score with 13 seconds remaining on the clock, when the teams met in a Divisional round playoff game following the 2021 regular season.

Mahomes managed to use the final 13 seconds to get his team in position for a successful field goal and then led them to a 42-36 OT victory in one of the greatest games in NFL history.

Still, Allen’s regular season numbers against the Chiefs are stellar. In five games he has thrown for 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns with only three interceptions and compiled a 4-1 record.
