**West Ham will have a remit to spend in January as the club desperately try and avoid relegation from the Premier League, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.**
Following what has been a dreadful opening quarter of the Premier League season with West Ham looking at present nailed on for the drop to the Championship come May, the club are now hoping that the January transfer window will be the saving grace to retain our Premier League status.
Nuno Espirito Santo has been brought in, replacing David Moyes, however he has mustered just 1 point in the 4 matches he has been in charge of thus far.
Reporting on The West Ham Way Podcast this week, club insider Ex advised that the club are setting up a budget for the new boss, in the hope it will be enough to turn around what is a dire situation in east London.
“There will be a budget to spend in January, with a striker and defender seen as the priority,” stated Ex. “We understand that the club are not going to appoint an external Head of Recruitment, with the view of working from within.”
Although January is some weeks away, Ex did advise on recruitment, with the Belgian leagues currently of particular interest.
“The club are quite rightly identifying targets now and we believe that there are players who play in Belgium that we are showing interest in. I can report that Romeo Vermant a striker for Club Brugge is someone the club are looking at.”
