There are reports of issues behind the scenes, with several high-placed officials at the club not aligned with the Italian’s vision or approach.

And they may also have a replacement lined-up in the shape of Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola who have identified him as the coming man in world football, and somebody who has the tactical acumen and leadership qualities to take the club to the next level, and become serious challengers for the Premier League again.

They are admirers of Iraola’s body of work at Bournemouth, where he has taken a club with one of the smallest budgets in the league, and who constantly have to sell some of their best heights to the giddy heights of second in the Premier League.

His achievements have already caught the eye of a number of top clubs in Europe, including Manchester United and Juventus, but Chelsea have now joined the list of admirers.
