Miami Dolphins RB Coach Ripped for Screaming at Player After Bogus Penalty Call

Ollie Gordon gets into heated exchange with coach

Miami Dolphins running backs coach Eric Studesville was harshly criticized online following an ugly shouting match with running back Ollie Gordon II on Thursday.

The exchange occurred early in the second quarter of the Dolphins’ Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens. Right before it, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed a pass to receiver Jaylen Waddle for a massive gain.

Unfortunately, the play was called back when Gordon was flagged for tripping a defender. Gordon was in the backfield trying to protect Tagovailoa from the incoming pass rush.

When Gordon made his way to the sideline, Studesville immediately let him have it, shouting at the rookie running back. Gordon, however, wasn’t about to take it and shouted right back.

The heated exchange lasted several seconds, and Gordon had to be calmed down by others on the sideline.

Replays of the penalty revealed that Gordon had a reason to be upset. When he tried to block a defender, he inadvertently slipped and landed near the defender’s leg. In response, the defender jumped over him and continued making his way to the QB.

Social media appeared to overwhelmingly agree that the coach was in the wrong for reacting so harshly to Gordon being wrongfully penalized.

Fuck that coach, that call was 100% bullshit, how is he the only fucking dumbass that didn’t seem to think so. https://t.co/6OXPMp9ILz

Ollie got F’ed on that call and this coach is a clueless ass clown. He decided to go off on his player. No way you could’ve actually watched the play and felt this was necessary. https://t.co/H9Fy9rWgIu

as a coach you gotta own the call on the field, review what happened, and take care of this behind closed doors. and in this case, apologize.

terrible leadership, even worse look. https://t.co/IVqNlVZqJV
