The 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays was, at its outset, billed as something of a “David vs. Goliath” matchup. Certain fans and pundits immediately took umbrage with that characterization, and the Blue Jays have done their part to prove that they aren’t “David”. This has been nothing short of an epic, wildly competitive series, replete with an 18-inning instant classic in Game 3, and the Blue Jays enter Game 6 on the verge of winning their first title in over 30 years. According to MLB Communications, this Fall Classic has also been the most watched World Series since 2016. There are so many different interesting storylines to follow. There are star players like Shohei Ohtani or Vladimir Guerrero Jr. performing at the highest level. There’s an MLB legend — Clayton Kershaw — making his final appearance in the World Series (and at Dodger Stadium) as his team tries to send him into retirement in glorified fashion. There’s the ongoing “underdog” element of the Blue Jays, even though they have shown — as noted above — that they are much closer to the Dodgers in quality than many people gave them credit for. On the other hand, there’s the premise of LA trying to solidify itself as a modern dynasty and become the first team since the Yankees to win back-to-back titles. There have also been some surprising, breakout performances from guys like rookie Trey Yesavage.
