“A loan or a sale” – Wolves open to January transfer if current plan doesn’t work out

Wolverhampton Wanderers will look to loan out or even sell Enso Gonzalez in the January transfer window if he doesn’t shine for the U21s.

That’s [according to journalist Christian Martin](https://x.com/SomosVersusPY/status/1984291233183723903), who has provided the latest on the Wolves midfielder.

Gonzalez signed for Wolves in August 2023, signing a six-year deal at Molineux. He’s only made one appearance in the first team though.

That’s because he’s been limited by a cruciate ligament tear sustained on international duty with Paraguay at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He was nearing a return in March this year but didn’t return fully until May.

He then joined Paraguay U-20 team at the U-20 World Cup in September of this year. He’s is yet to return to the first team set up he has been playing for Wolves U21s. He’s currently manager three appearances and 199 minutes to date. The latest of those came in a 2-0 win over PSV in the Premier League International Cup. He scored in that game.

The plan for him is a clear one. Wolves are hoping he can establish himself with the youth set up and then return to the first team from there. But Martin reports if that doesn’t happen, he could be moved on in the January transfer window.

“Look, he’s training with the first team, the same as Diego León at Manchester United,” he said.

“They put him in the reserves so he can get minutes. And what the guy from Wolverhampton tells me is that they want him back at any moment. He could have a chance to return to the first team. He’s been out for a long time, but he’s getting minutes.

“Wolverhampton’s plans now are if that doesn’t work out, if he doesn’t manage to stand out regularly with the under-21s, there would be a possibility, a loan move or a sale, maybe in January.”
