Seth Rollins tells us how long he’s out, but we don’t believe him

Even though it forced him to undergo surgery and vacate the WWE World Heavyweight, there are bright sides to Seth Rollins suffering a legitimate shoulder injury at Crown Jewel. He gets more time to spend with his daughter, and it happened while his favorite sport is in season — so Rollins will get opportunities to hone his skills for life after wrestling, when he hopes to become an NFL analyst/media personality.

Seth got one of those chances this morning, showing up on NFL Network for Good Morning Football. It’s Halloween, so the Visionary was costumed up to rep his squad, the Chicago Bears. We were initially distracted by the very cool touch of wearing the late, great Steve “Mongo” McMichael’s jersey, but the sling on Stanley the Bear was a definite giveaway.

After revealing himself, Rollins cut a promo on GMF’s Kyle Brandt. The Visionary blames Brandt for jinxing him by wearing a sling to mock his fake SummerSlam injury (we assume Seth Freakin’ is just heeling it up here, because he has to know that if the universe, mojo, karma or the like played any role his current injury, it’s payback for his fake SummerSlam injury). And when Miz’s fellow Real World alum responded that Rollins’ current injury could be fake as well, The Man’s man replied:

“I wish I could rip this thing [the sling] off. But I’m out, guy. I’m out of action for six months. My World championship is going to be worn by some schmuck — either Jey Uso or CM Punk. It’s awful. It really is the Halloween scaries, guys.”

Six months could mean a return at next April’s WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. And planting that seed in our heads is probably exactly why Rollins made a point to yell about it on NFL Network.

Does it mean he’s lying again? We have no reports his injury isn’t 100% legitimate this time. Neither he nor WWE has really specified much about that injury, but if the surgery was rotator cuff-related, then six months is a reasonable estimate for recovery.

But after they worked people inside and outside the company with the “ruse of the century” no one involved can really blame us for being a little skeptical.
