Iron extend Rory Mahady's loan spell

**Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm the extension of Leeds United goalkeeper Rory Mahady's loan with the club for a further month.**

The 19-year-old originally joined the club a month ago to play in the 3-1 victory over York City, with then on-loan shot stopper Rory Watson ineligible to face his former club. Coming into the building a day prior to the match, Mahady impressed in the game at the LNER Community Stadium on what was his professional debut, and will return from the Whites in a bid to gain more experience and continue that form.

Starting his career in his native Scotland with Celtic, he would be snapped up by the Yorkshire-based side in 2022 and quickly became one of the Whites highly tipped prospects which was reflected in him signing a new three year deal this Summer.

Mahady made 17 appearances in Premier League 2 last season and helped the very Leeds Under-21s side that defeated the Iron earlier in the season, lift the National League Cup in 2024-25. He has previously represented Scotland at U19 level, winning eight caps, and received his first U21 call-up in March.

Following Watson's recall back to the Minstermen, the Iron moved quickly to acquire the services of Mahady for another month, with the goalkeeper in contention to face Blackpool in the Emirates FA Cup tomorrow afternoon.
