The Chicago Bears, coming off a disappointing Week 8 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, are looking to get back on track with a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
While the Ravens' defense has struggled this season, the Bengals' defense has been even worse. In a great matchup, the Bears have a chance to bounce back in a big way on offense. But the Bears might not have all of their normal weapons in Week 9.
During Ben Johnson's press conference on Friday before Week 9 against the Bengals, CHGO Bears shared that Johnson hinted that D'Andre Swift could sit out a week to get ample rest.
Bears could sit D'Andre Swift amid injury concerns
"Be Johnson acknowledges that at some point the Bears may have to consider giving D'Andre Swift a week off." CHGO Bears posted. "Says Swift wants to be out there, 'Sometimes you have to protect the player from himself.'"

This update from Johnson on Swift is a big one, as it points to the Bears being without Swift for a Week 9 matchup against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.
Just a week ago, the New York Jets ran for 254 yards on 37 carries in a 39-38 thriller. Breece Hall ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts, while backup running back Isaiah Davis had 65 yards on seven attempts.
And now, the Bears announced that they have officially ruled Swift out for their Week 9 matchup against the Bengals. Not only will Swift miss the great matchup, but Roschon Johnson will also be out for the Week 9 must-win game.

More: How D'Andre Swift, Kyle Monangai helped re-establish Bears' run game
Rookie seventh-rounder Kyle Monangai will get the bulk of the work, with Travis Homer backing up Monangai. Monangai has shown flashes in recent weeks and will take over for Swift as he deals with a groin injury.
Swift has dealt with his groin injury for a few weeks now, and as Marquee Sports Network shared, Johnson called the issue a "chronic" one for Swift.
“This has really been a chronic things for awhile … we’re doing our due diligence to make sure we’re getting the best version of Swift.”

"This has really been a chronic thing for a while now..." Johnson said. "We're doing our due diligence to make sure we're getting the best version of Swift."
With the Bears' final injury report out, Swift is officially sitting out due to his groin injury. It's a tough situation for Swift, especially with a great matchup on tap against the Bengals.
Johnson will now rely on Monangai and Homer to take the workload out of the backfield, as the Bears look to get to 5-3 and head into the trade deadline with a chance to go on a playoff run.
