Why Gabe Vincent isn't playing tonight for Lakers vs. Grizzlies with injury update

Gabe Vincent had a rough night with the Los Angeles Lakers last Sunday.

Not only did the former Miami Heat guard fail to record a point in 19 minutes against the Sacramento Kings, but he also couldn't finish the game due to a left ankle injury.

Unsurprisingly, Vincent was inactive for the Lakers' contests against the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves, and the misery will continue on Friday night when Los Angeles faces the Memphis Grizzlies.

Why Gabe Vincent isn't playing vs. the Grizzlies tonight with injury update

According to a recent injury update, Vincent won’t be available for Los Angeles’ next few contests.

“Lakers guard Gabe Vincent is expected to miss two to four weeks after undergoing an MRI on his sprained left ankle Monday,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Shams Charania reported Monday.

“Vincent suffered the injury early in the third quarter of L.A.'s 127-120 road win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. He left the arena in a walking boot, and he told ESPN that X-rays taken after the game came back negative.”

Vincent is still attempting to put it all together with the Lakers. The Santa Barbara native hasn’t succeeded in recapturing the magic that helped him play an integral part in the Heat’s impressive 2023 run to the NBA finals.

Through three games this season, Vincent is averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 assists per game, only connecting on 23.1% of his field goals and 20% of his three-point jumpers.

While it isn’t time to pull the plug on the Vincent experiment yet, the 29-year-old is running out of time to prove himself in Los Angeles.
