Arizona cancer center renamed in honor of Larry Fitzgerald’s late mother

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Arizona Cardinals legend is supporting a Valley health organization in the fight against breast cancer, and that is Something Good!

The Larry Fitzgerald Foundation is donating $1 million to Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Laura Dreier Breast Cancer Center at the hospital is being renamed "The Carol Fitzgerald Breast Health Center," in honor of Larry’s late mother. Sadly, Carol lost her battle with breast cancer at just 47 years old in 2003.

On Friday, Banner held a ceremony to dedicate the center to Carol and the Fitzgerald family. The NFL legends’ family were there for the big reveal.

Larry’s relationship with Banner Health started 15 years ago, when he served as honorary chair for the Hope Starts Here campaign. The Cardinals’ great led a group of volunteers, raising $20 million to help build and open Banner MD’s main campus in Gilbert.

Thank you to Banner Health and the Larry Fitzgerald Foundation for their support of cancer research and patients!
