The Spurs have reclaimed the crown as the most successful franchise in Texas, and they won't be relinquishing the title any time soon. And we're not counting baseball or hockey because when you think about sports teams in the Lone Star State, nobody thinks about the damn Rangers or Stars. You think about the NFL and the NBA, and when it comes to those two, San Antonio has the game sewn up.

The Spurs are back being the premier franchise in Texas
Some of you will be thinking, "It's way too early to make this proclamation." But is it really, though? San Antonio hasn't been competing at a high level for a long while, and what have these other organizations done with the time the Silver and Black afforded them? Absolutely nothing. None of these teams won a single thing, and only the Mavericks have even made it to the championship game.
The Texans are usually an afterthought in most sports discussions. They haven't been relevant since...
Anyway. The Rockets were the number two seed in the Western Conference last year, and what did it get them? They've had quite a few stellar teams over the years, when James Harden was running the strip clubs in H-Town like Tyrion Lannister ran his brothels in Game of Thrones. But they didn't amount to anything other than frustration for a rabid fan base that doesn't really deserve good things anyway because...

The Mavericks... oh, the poor Mavericks. I actually feel a little bad for them. Not too much, but still. How could they trade Luka Doncic away after making it to the NBA Finals just a season prior? It still doesn't make sense. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis is hurt again, and their chances of winning anything dwindle by the moment.
They're counting on an injury-prone AD and a 33-year-old Kyrie Irving fresh off an ACL tear to come back and lead them somewhere special. The only place they'll end up is mediocrity if they don't move at least one of those players for someone you can rely on. But don't show them this. They might actually be looking for bright ideas since they clearly don't have it together.
Look, I can bang on the Cowboys all day. It's very easy to do. But most of their fans already know what it is. Sure, there are still a delusional bunch, as there are with any fan base. However, when I speak to their fans, there is mostly apathy in their faces and voices. They've been beaten down by Jerry Jones, and now they're about as optimistic about the future as Browns fans. It's bad.
Meanwhile, the Spurs just rattled off five straight to start the year and look like one of the best teams in the league. They're the only one of the Texas teams with a generational player on the roster. (Cooper Flagg is great, but he's not generational.) They're only going to keep going up from here.
But there's good news for the fans of those other franchises—you can always join us. You just have to say, "Go Spurs Go." You know you want to.
