Boston Celtics forward Josh Minott has been one of the most pleasant surprises early on for Joe Mazzulla’s ball club. Since Minott was inserted into the starting lineup, the Celts have won two-straight (they were winless prior), and Minott has been rebounding his butt off. Per Celtics senior writer Taylor Snow, Minott has snagged as many offensive boards (nine) in his first four Celtics games as he tallied in his first two NBA seasons combined. Minott had 15 points and nine rebounds against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, and then he had 11 points and 15 rebounds against Evan Mobley and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Minott has also tallied seven steals on the season, showcasing his defensive versatility. Story continues below advertisement Though it’s still mighty early in the year, Minott is looking like another genius signing by Brad Stevens, who has a talent for discovering talent in unexpected places. Minott’s stats with the Minnesota Timberwolves through his first 93 NBA games wouldn’t have caught the eye of some GMs: 2.3 points per game in limited minutes (5.0 per game). But Stevens must have suspected that, given more opportunity, Minott could offer some really solid production, and Brad is looking accurate on that suspicion thus far.
