Happy Friday, and I hope yinz are doing well.
The mood around the Pittsburgh Steelers is quite different than what it was a couple of weeks ago. Once upon a time, the Steelers were 4-1 and had everything going for them. Now, they’ve quickly come back to earth and have to put together some tough wins against good opponents in the following weeks to maintain their slim lead in the AFC North.
That effort begins against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. It won’t be easy, as the Colts roll into Sunday’s affair with all the momentum in the world. They have an MVP candidate in Daniel Jones and another in Jonathan Taylor, so a struggling Steelers’ defense has its work cut out for it.
However, the Colts are beatable. Their defense has some weaknesses, particularly against the pass. The Steelers’ offense has been the bright spot this year, and they’re certainly capable of putting up some points. They have to do this if the Steelers want any shot at an upset win at home.
As always, we’re here with you throughout the weekend with whatever news comes our way.
Have a safe and happy weekend.

Recap: Week 8 Weekend: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions
51 respondents answered last week’s questions. This is where opportunity arises. Folks are a little salty over two losses in a row. Step into the breech, answer this week’s questions, and see yourself climb up the leaderboard.
Q1: Will the Steelers beat the Packers?
Prospects looked good with a 16-7 halftime lead and getting the ball to start the second half. But then the wheels fell off after two bad officiating calls. The defense could not prevent Jordan Love from connecting with his receivers. And the offense could not keep up as the Green Bay Packers won easily, 35-25. 39 of 51 respondents (76.5 percent) thought the Steelers would win coming off a mini-bye. But the defense was badly exposed.
Q2: Between Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love, who has more passing yards on Sunday?
Jordan Love passed for 350 yards. Tight end Tucker gained 100 of those yards after the catch. Aaron Rodgers managed just 219 passing yards. The best was a 45-yard pass to Roman Wilson early in the game. 31 of 51 respondents (60.8 percent) won a point by picking Love over Rodgers.
Q3: The Steelers’ defense has not forced a turnover in the past two games. Does the defense (not including ST) force a turnover against the Packers?
Nick Herbig forced one fumble that went out of bounds in the first quarter. Maybe that’s why he did not play so many snaps. He needed to make sure the ball stayed in bounds so the defense could recover it. The only other Packers fumble was on a muffed punt return that Green Bay recovered anyway. The Steelers’ defense has not forced a turnover in three straight games. Only 3 of 51 respondents (5.9 percent) predicted the Steelers’ defense failing to create a takeaway.
Q4: Will the Packers convert over/under 49.5 percent of their third-down attempts?
The Steelers’ defense stopped the Packers on their first four third downs. But on the Packers’ first possession of the second half, Jordan Love, under heavy pressure, threw a desperation pass that fluttered high in the air on third-and-5. NFL officials ignored Tucker Kraft pushing off DeShon Elliott to create separation on a 59-yard shove-catch-run play. Elliott was injured trying to tackle Kraft on this play after Darius Slay missed a tackle. The Packers would finish the game converting 5-of-12 third downs (41.7 percent). 33 of 51 respondents predicted the Steelers’ defense would allow Green Bay to convert under 49.5 percent of third-down attempts.
Q5: Which Steelers tight end will have the most receiving yards against Green Bay?
Jonnu Smith caught two passes for 17 yards, and Pat Freiermuth caught three passes for 13 yards. 28 respondents picked Freiermuth to lead the Steelers tight ends in receiving yards. But 19 correctly selected Smith as the leading tight end. Darnell Washington received four votes but did not even receive a target.

Tiebreaker: How many total receiving yards will Steelers tight ends combine for?
This week, three respondents missed just one question. The tiebreaker (predicting how many receiving yards the Steelers’ tight ends would combine for) is crucial to determine this week’s winner. The Steelers’ tight ends combined for 30 receiving yards compared to our median prediction of 88 yards.
The tiebreaker used to break a 5-way tie: Paul P (75), Beaver Falls Hosiery (70), and Style Points (69) answered four of five questions correctly. Style Points won by predicting the tiebreaker within 39 yards. Just a single yard ahead of yours truly.

Three people dropped off the leaderboard. Only one person is new to the leaderboard. Andy N is on the board for the first time since Week One. Folks needed to score three points to keep pace this week.
