The Bills made a significant roster adjustment on Tuesday, driven by injuries on the defensive line. The team announced it signed practice squad veterans Jordan Poyer and Jordan Phillips to the active roster. This move comes as defensive tackle Ed Oliver is set to undergo surgery for a torn biceps and will be out indefinitely.

The head coach stated, “A tough loss. Ed’s a really good player. He missed some time this year. He’ll get surgery. He’ll be out indefinitely.”

With Oliver sidelined, Buffalo’s depth at defensive tackle is thin. The status of starter DaQuan Jones also remains uncertain after he missed two games with a calf injury. These roster pressures created the opening for Poyer’s return to the active squad.

Poyer originally played for the Bills from 2017 to 2023, earning All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl selections during his tenure. He briefly joined the Miami Dolphins in 2024 before rejoining Buffalo in August and landing on the practice squad. Now, he is activated and ready to contribute as the Bills prepare for a crucial game.

This season, Poyer has already played in two games for the Bills, including a start last weekend against the Carolina Panthers where he recorded six tackles. His activation comes as Buffalo is coming off a decisive 40-9 bounce-back win on Sunday over the Panthers. Now, heading into Week 9, the Bills (5-3) are preparing to face the Chiefs and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes at home.

As Poyer shared his heartfelt emotions about his return, fans offered a wide range of reactions on social media.

One fan said, “Just so happy you’re back home with The Buffalo Bills.”

Another chimed in, “How can you not just love this dude?”

Others said, “JPO forever!!”

A different user remarked, “Get those Big Dubs, Po!”

However, not all comments were purely positive, as one person commented, “Ask him if his lack of speed will hinder his coverage on speedy receivers and how he can compensate.”

With All-Pro in the house, the Bills are surely going to bash the upcoming clash against the Chiefs.
