Eagles' Myles Garrett trade rumor is a nightmare the Cowboys aren't ready for

If there was ever a trade to make Dallas Cowboys fans forgive the Micah Parsons trade, bringing in the only defender in the NFL who's better than Parsons, Myles Garrett, would certainly do the trick.

There's been a lot of trade smoke following Garrett with the Browns sitting and 2-6 and sporting a -58 point differential. Garrett showed frustration after Cleveland's Week 8 loss to the Patriots, in which he set a franchise record with five sacks and set the record for most sacks by a player under 30.

The Browns are adamant that they won't trade Garrett. But that isn't stopping the Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman from trying to pry Garrett from northeast Ohio.

Appearing on 102.5 The Game in Cleveland, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports revealed that the Eagles are "super hot" after Garrett, and that Roseman would give up "three first-round picks for him."

Eagles trading for Myles Garrett would break Cowboys fans beyond measure

The rumor did not come from the Eagles, but Robinson said he "heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people in other teams that are clearly on the phones." If other NFL executives are hearing it, there must be some smoke behind it.

It must be noted that Robinson heard from the Browns that they are not trading Garrett. That's been the case with the Bengals and Trey Hendrickson and the Raiders and Maxx Crosby, both of whom the Cowboys have reportedly inquired about.

Of course, Dallas said that about Parsons once upon a time. And the Browns, who are at least two years away from competing, might entertain three first-round picks for their franchise cornerstone. Those are most likely going to be late firsts, but they would still accelerate their rebuild as they bide time to get out from under Deshaun Watson's albatross of a contract.

The Cowboys doing absolutely nothing at the trade deadline -- buying or selling -- is generally perceived as the worst-case scenario.

The Eagles, fresh off a Super Bowl and sitting at 6-2 despite playing inconsistent football this season, trading for the best defensive player in the world, who still has several years left in his prime, would send Cowboys fans into the torture chamber that's locked from the inside.

It’s a long shot, but the fact that the rumor’s out there will have Cowboys Nation dreading every Adam Schefer and Ian Rapoport notification that comes through until November 4 passes.
