Alex Smith Taking ESPN College GameDay Guest Picker Responsibilities Seriously

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah QB and No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Alex Smith isn’t one to take responsibilities lightly, and that includes his duties as ESPN College GameDay guest-picker.

The ESPN College Gameday will be on the University of Utah campus on Saturday, November 1, before the No. 24 Utes host No. 17 Cincinnati. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. MT.

“Our producer has already given me a heads up, he said, “Man, Alex agonizes over these pi8cks, trying to get them right,” GameDay host Reece Davis said on Friday afternoon while meeting with local media. “We are so excited to have him. He’s such a great dude. A great ambassador for football generally, and for Utah specifically. It’s going to be really fun to have him on the show.”

‘Stanford’ Steve Coughlin echoed Davis’ praise of the former Ute.

“I love Alex Smith,” Coughlin said. “Being able to work with him nowadays and being around, just his presence. Having guys that played with him in San Francisco. Buddies that I played with, and just absolutely loving the guy.”
