Sean Payton says doing the work is ‘addictive’ for the Broncos right now

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has his team on a roll right now.

The Broncos have won five games in a row, including dramatic comeback victories over the Eagles and Giants.

At 6-2, Denver leads the AFC West, even with the Chiefs and Chargers lurking at 5-3.

After the Broncos smacked Dallas 44-24 last week, some players thought the week of practice leading up to the Cowboys game was one of the best the team’s had in recent years.

Sean Payton was asked about those comments on Friday — and made it clear the guys in the locker room are hungry for more.

“It felt like it was different, yeah. We keep constantly working and pretty soon it starts getting addictive. Addicting, relative to, you just want more of it,” Payton said.

The Broncos definitely want to keep winning, especially with a Nov. 16 showdown against Kansas City getting closer and closer. The division lead may certainly be on the line.

They’ll tangle with the Texans on Sunday before the Raiders come to town next week for Thursday Night Football. In a perfect world, Denver will be 8-2 when the Chiefs roll into Empower Field at Mile High.

Sean Payton was asked if this team is not only a competent football team, but also one with attitude at this point in the season.

“I think it’s in progress. I think there’s steps, there’s games, there’s points where you look at it. It’s like any journey, I think you like back and try to say ‘when,’ but I think it’s a work in progress,” Payton said.

Sean Payton doesn’t know the “when” for the Broncos yet, meaning have they officially embraced having an attitude, but they certainly have the looks of a Super Bowl contender.

And if winning is addictive, Denver can only hope that craving continues to be satisfied in Houston.
