Howe makes tough Ramsdale decision: Predicted Newcastle United lineup against West Ham

Eddie Howe will rotate his Newcastle United starting XI yet again on Sunday against West Ham United.

The Magpies made eight changes to their starting lineup on Wednesday night, but it did not hinder their performance. Newcastle United beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Carabao Cup, advancing to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Now Eddie Howe must switch his focus back to the Premier League, as he aims to win away from home for the first time this season. West Ham could be the ideal opponents, given their struggles under Graham Potter and now Nuno Espirito Santo.

Having rested key players on Wednesday night, Howe is expected to shuffle his pack once again at the London Stadium. With that in mind, this is Geordie Boot Boys‘ predicted Newcastle United starting XI to face West Ham.

Nick Pope restored despite Aaron Ramsdale heroics

Aaron Ramsdale was excellent against Spurs, but that will not be enough for him to retain his place in the side.

While a lot of fans will be keen to see Ramsdale receive an extended run in the side, there is no reason for Nick Pope to lose his place as Newcastle’s first choice goalkeeper.

Another player who did well against Spurs but is likely to lose his place in the side is Fabian Schar. He scored the Magpies’ opener in the Carabao Cup, but should drop back to the bench in place of Sven Botman.

Elsewhere, Kieran Trippier should replace Emil Krafth, while Howe will hope he can name Lewis Hall as a substitute after injury. Ahead of the game, Howe admitted that Hall is ‘very close’ to returning.

"No fresh injuries, we are still managing Will Osula's ankle, we will see how he is today but apart from that we are as we were. Hopefully Lewis Hall will be training with us today, we will see how he looks, he’s looked after himself, looks in good shape… pic.twitter.com/7NRKUrutgG

Eddie Howe reverts to favourite Newcastle United midfield

Newcastle United went with a new look midfield on Wednesday night, with Jacob Ramsey and Joe Willock joining Sandro Tonali in the engine room.

Ramsey and Willock did well, but not so well that they should keep Bruno Guimaraes or Joelinton out of the side. The Brazilian duo should return to the starting XI, with Howe likely to go with his trusted midfield trio that has served him so well over the past 12 months.

Bruno should be feeling fresh heading into the game at the London Stadium, having only been introduced in the 80th minute versus Spurs.

Nuno Espirito Santo hyped up Newcastle’s midfield before the game, and they will hope to prove him right after he described them as one of the Premier League’s best.

Yoane Wissa injured as Nick Woltemade continues up front

It has been confirmed that Yoane Wissa will miss the West Ham game, despite edging closer towards making his Newcastle United debut.

It is not going to come against the Hammers, which means Nick Woltemade will once again lead the line for the Magpies. That is nothing to worry about, with the 23-year-old boasting six goals in all competitions this season.

Woltemade will be flanked by Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy, with Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga dropping to the bench.

Predicted XI vs West Ham: Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn; Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Woltemade, Gordon.
