**Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has dropped a negative 14-word injury update ahead of the weekend visit of Aston Villa in the Premier League.**
The Reds are in desperate need of three points on Saturday evening, looking to prevent a fifth league defeat in a row, and a sixth domestic loss in succession.
Speaking in his pre-Villa press conference on Friday \[via [_This Is Anfield_](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2025/10/gravenberch-slot-isak-jones-injury-news/)\], Slot confirmed in 14 words that Curtis Jones and Alexander Isak are both almost certainly out of the game:
_“The other two are probably 99.9 percent sure not in the squad for Saturday.”_
Slot also added that Ryan Gravenberch could at least feature, in a much-needed boost:
_“Ryan trained with us yesterday, the other two didn’t yet. As I said many times, in the end phase of the injury things can slow down a bit or things can go faster. Let’s wait and see where they are._ _Ryan trained with us first time yesterday and will train with us today. Then we’re going to make the call if he is able to start, yes or no.”_
**How will Liverpool line-up against Aston Villa?**
---------------------------------------------------
Not having Jones and Isak on Saturday is the latest injury blow for Liverpool, with Alisson and Jeremie Frimpong already definitely out of the weekend action.
Jones was one of the few positives from last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat away to Brentford, with him and Dominik Szoboszlai trying their best while others around them toiled, and he would likely have started against Villa.
Meanwhile, Isak cannot get any momentum going in a Liverpool shirt yet, following his record-breaking move to Anfield from Newcastle United.
In terms of team selection, Giorgi Mamardashvili will continue in goal, with Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson potentially making up the defence. Milos Kerkez needs a spell out of the team.
In midfield, Gravenberch will hopefully be fit enough to start alongside Szoboszlai, with Florian Wirtz in front of them, but the out-of-form Alexis Mac Allister is also in contention.
Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike should again make up the attack, with the two wide players badly in need of finding improved form.
