Real Madrid have repeatedly been named as a contender to sign Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
The striker has excelled at Manchester City since joining them from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. In January, Manchester City rewarded him with a new long-term contract until 2034. Prior to that, he has regularly linked to Real Madrid.
Spanish journalist Jorge Picón reports, on El Desmarque Madrugada, that the Norwegian is tempted by Spain regardless.
Picón claims the Norway international has a desire to play for Los Blancos. Should they be keen, the Spanish giants can take advantage of the ‘escape route from Manchester City’ made available to Haaland.
Prior to relaying his quotes, El Desmarque claim the journalist, who is a presented as an expert related to Real Madrid, ‘didn’t hesitate to confirm the mutual interest.’
“He would very much like to play for Real Madrid, as his own entourage confirms,” he said.
“Furthermore, as his agent Rafaela Pimienta has repeatedly stated, he is the master of his own destiny. He has an escape route from Manchester City, a release clause whose exact figure is still unknown.”
According to the expert, Haaland’s potential arrival at Real Madrid could be linked closely to Vinícius Júnior’s future.
He indicates the 25-year-old Brazil international, who has a contract until 2027, could sign an extension. If that happens, it would be difficult for the Manchester City player to arrive at Real Madrid.
“I wouldn’t separate this case from Vinicius’. He doesn’t close the door on renewing his contract, not at all, and both sides are confident it can happen. If Vinicius stays, I see Haaland’s arrival as a bit more difficult,” Picón explained.
