Manager strongly hints at Nottingham Forest contact – Didn’t want to follow Ange fate

Nottingham Forest appeared again in Brazil’s headlines this week as their [**former target**](https://sportwitness.co.uk/meeting-with-president-as-nottingham-forest-lurk-in-background-for-manager/), manager Abel Ferreira, discussed his future in Brazil.

His Palmeiras side just produced a historic 4-0 win in the Copa Libertadores semifinal second leg over LDU, after a 3-0 defeat in the first leg. As a result, the victory secured him a place in his third continental final in five years.

Speaking to [**Globo Esporte**](https://ge.globo.com/google/amp/futebol/times/palmeiras/noticia/2025/10/31/abel-revela-magoa-e-abre-o-jogo-sobre-futuro-no-palmeiras-clubes-me-ligaram-de-todos-os-lados.ghtml) after the match, the coach admitted that clubs from “everywhere” have tried to reach him – and strongly suggested Nottingham Forest was one of them.

_“Clubs have called me from all sides. But you see England. We’d go to the mid-table there. And Postecoglou played nine games there and got sacked,”_ Abel said. The comment referred to Forest’s former head coach, who lasted only 39 days in charge of the club.

The Premier League club linked themselves with Abel earlier this year. However, he never felt tempted to leave a title contender in Brazil for a team battling relegation in England.

Abel now plans to renew his deal with Palmeiras until December 2027. Club president Leila Pereira revealed the offer back in September and confirmed that the new contract carries no release clause.

The coach also said he handled negotiations directly with the board, without help from his agent Hugo Cajuda. _“I don’t need anything written. For me, a word is enough,”_ he added.

Since 2020, Abel has coached Palmeiras in two Copa Libertadores finals, winning both. And now he’s going for a third. Therefore, despite constant rumours about Europe, he remains focused on finishing the season and fighting for more titles in Brazil.
