Aaron Anselmino rated by German media after Chelsea loanee's first 90 minutes for Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund beat Augsburg in the German Bundesliga on Friday night, and Chelsea loanee Aaron Anselmino completed his first 90 minutes for them.

Aaron Anselmino, 20, is a talented Chelsea-owned defender who’s on loan at Dortmund for the 2025-26 season.

After starting the first game of the Bundesliga campaign, he spent the next couple of months on the sidelines through injury. Thankfully, the Argentine centre-back recently returned to action with a few appearances.

For the first time at Dortmund, Anselmino played the entire game as they secured a 1-0 victory away to Augsburg, climbing to second in the league table as a result.

The positive news is that Anselmino has already won over Dortmund supporters, even though he’s now made just four appearances for them. Hopefully, this can be the start of a successful year of development before he returns to Stamford Bridge next summer.

In Dortmund’s away win against Augsburg, Anselmino’s individual performance earned him glowing praise from the German media.

Spox wrote: “Anselmino once again delivered a flawless performance. He defended well going forward and generally displayed a healthy level of aggression. He also played with composure and had already made four clearances by half-time.”

Ran posted: “Anselmino showed some minor uncertainties in the first half. He hinted at his technical talent with a strong dribble in his own penalty area (14th minute), but then played the ball directly to an Augsburg player. However, his physical style of play nipped several Augsburg attacks in the bud, and he won many duels, especially in the second half.”
