Aston Villa will have several players unavailable to face Liverpool when they meet in the Premier League.

Villa go into the game on Saturday night on the back of a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend, which moved them up to eighth place in the overall standings.

A victory at Anfield on Saturday night would, meanwhile, see Villa leapfrog the reigning champions, who are now seventh in the table.

Unai Emery has been forced to deal with several players on the side-lines for Villa throughout the campaign, and that will be no different when they travel to Merseyside to take on Liverpool. One player who is guaranteed to be unavailable is Harvey Elliott.

Villa signed Elliott - from Liverpool - during the summer transfer window on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. That buy clause will become active if Elliott makes a certain number of appearances, but the playmaker will not be available to face his parent club due to the Premier League's loan rules.

Emery also won't be able to call on Emi Buendia, Youri Tielemans and Andres Garcia for the clash.

Buendia suffered a foot injury during the win over Man City last weekend, and Emery confirmed the forward will not be available to face Villa.

"He [Beundia] is not available for tomorrow, but the injury is going well," Emery told reporters on Friday. "I think - with a few days more - he can be fit and available for the next match, hopefully."

Liverpool will also have some players unavailable to take on Villa. Alexander Isak, Curtis Jones, Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni are all expected to be on the side-lines.

Ryan Gravenberch is also a doubt for the reigning Premier League champions with an ankle problem which has forced him to miss the last three matches.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed pre-match that Gravenberch has returned to training - and could be in contention to feature against Villa on Saturday night (8pm).
