Exclusive: What Everton chiefs are 'exploring' as Richarlison could spark big January window

Everton will consider bringing Richarlison back to Merseyside in 2026, but there is a clear directive coming from the board.

David Moyes is needing a huge turnaround from his current strikers ahead of the January transfer window following a dismal start from Beto and Thierno Barry.

The Toffees have only been able to find the back of the net four times in their last seven games across all competitions.

Everton News is aware that Everton will look to sign a new striker in the winter market to bolster their current options.

Goals are needed at Everton and they are needed very quickly if the Blues are going to live up to their hopes of European qualification.

Richarlison is on Everton’s radar but transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has told Everton News how Angus Kinnear and Co will approach the January market.

Everton’s stance on a January move for Richarlison

Last week, Everton News reported that Richarlison would be keen on returning to Everton if the opportunity presents itself.

The Brazilian is currently finding himself in and out of the Tottenham Hotspur starting XI as he struggles to find consistency himself.

Everton are in desperate need of goals, but Bailey has told Everton News that Kinnear will not be making any panic buys in January.

“He’s on a lot of wages, Spurs will want to get rid of the wages as well if it comes to that,” said Bailey.

“Everton are exploring those options, but it’s not the only position Everton are going to be looking at. They’re looking at the options that are out there, but it’s only going to be the right ones.

“They are not going to go silly. They’re not going to be in relegation trouble. So, I don’t think there will be any panic buys this January, which I think whilst fans would want to see signings, I think it’s a good sign that there won’t be rushing anything.”

After Wednesday’s loss in the Carabao Cup, a lot of Tottenham fans are wanting to sell Richarlison to Everton at the soonest possible opportunity.

There are plenty of fans who would welcome the Brazilian back to Everton, but it is clear that a deal will only be done if it works for the Toffees.

Everton willing to give Thierno Barry time to develop

Everyone at Everton would have ideally liked to see Barry hit the ground running following his summer move from Villarreal.

Barry has teased a potential start against Sunderland with a recent post on his social media account.

Time is going to be needed to see the 23-year-old show the best version of himself in the Premier League after five transfers over the last five years.

Bailey has told Everton News that those inside the building at Finch Farm are not hitting the panic button just yet over their young Frenchman.

“Ultimately, as a club, they know that Beto is what he is; he’s a workhorse. But if Everton’s hopes over the next 12 to 18 months are to become a top eight team they know they do need investment and there are aspects of the squad that do need work,” said Bailey.

“Centre forward is one of them. They do look like Barry. Everything about him obviously is a work in progress. So, they are looking at the long term with him.
