Packers’ Matt LaFleur leaves no doubt about what he thinks of Panthers QB Bryce Young

The Green Bay Packers will be facing the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field this Sunday, with the visiting team going back to Bryce Young as their starting quarterback.

Young missed Week 8’s Carolina game against the Buffalo Bills because of an ankle issue, leaving veteran quarterrback Andy Dalton with the QB1 chores. That did not turn out well for Carolina, as it got bludgenoned by the Bills to the tune of a 40-9 score.

With Young returning under center, the Packers are hoping they can still have the same result that the Bills had.

Either way, Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur thinks positively of Young, who is in his third season in the NFL.

“I think Bryce, I really think the turning point, you could argue, was a couple of years ago in our game, when he went off in the second half. They battled back, and you know, we made a couple plays down the stretch to win the game,” LaFleur shared.

“But I think that kind of got him going. I know he had a little setback, whatever, maybe last year, and then he really got going. So he’s obviously a very talented quarterback. I think he can do a lot of things with his legs, just either manipulating the pocket or creating off schedule. And I think he’s got some weapons he can throw to now.”

Can the Packers avoid an upset loss against the Packers in Week 9?

Green Bay is the clear favorite in this matchup against the Panthers, especially since the Packers have the momentum and will be playing as the host team. Having won all of their last three games, the Packers are looking to capitalize on a beatable Panthers team, at least on paper, to keep their surge going.

However, Green Bay is also wary of the Panthers, which is playing better football this season than they did in previous years, notwithstanding Carolina’s beating at the hands of the Bills.

The Packers know what it’s like to get stunned by a team many thought they’d take care of. They lost to the Cleveland Browns on the road in Week 3 and nearly escaped with a win in Week 7 versus the Arizona Cardinals.
