West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo said his team need to be strong at home if they are going to pick up their first win under his reign when they play Newcastle Utd at the London Stadium.
West Ham have not won since Santo took over from Graham Potter at the end of September and are currently second from bottom.
They have so far conceded the most goals int the league and Santo believe this is the main priority that they need to address if they are going to progress.
He said: “The priority is to find a solution. A solution that we can find a good game and compete well. And stick wand what we want to on Sunday is that we can sustain our level of performance.”
“We must not switch off and keep performing well as these switch off’s are really damaging and costing us.”
He also said the role Jarrod Bowen will play will be vital for the club if they have any chance of improving this season. The forward has been one of West Ham’s star players this season scoring three goals in nine games.
He said :”We are talking about one of the top players in England. He is in the England squad. All these numbers and statistics reflect the quality of Jarrod.”
“Jarrod is one of the other players to gel and to bring all the others in the same state of mind. I t is a good thing when footballers rely on players like Jarrod and others. Believe me it is a good thing.”
West Ham will be without defender Konstantinos Mavropanos who remains out injured while teenage left-back Oliver Scarles underwent successful surgery on a fractured collarbone on Thursday. Striker Niclas Fullkrug will also miss Sunday's game at the London Stadium.
West Ham have won just two of their last 12 Premier League games against Newcastle, with both of these victories coming away from home.
The Hammers have made their worst start to a Premier League season after nine matches, with 2006-07 their previous worst. The Hammers have never previously suffered as many as eight defeats in their opening 10 games of a league season.
Newcastle United are winless in their last seven away Premier League matches, failing to score in four of those games.
