Exclusive | West Ham ‘in negotiations’ | Reinforcements incoming

The break from the norm when [Nuno Espírito Santo](https://www.claretandhugh.info/finally-opportunity-knocks-at-west-ham-united/) arrived raised a few eyebrows at West Ham. Normally a new head coach has a whole entourage of fitness coaches, goal keeper, defence, attack, set piece coaches, conditioning coaches – the list seems endless as the ‘new’ relatives the old. When Graham Potter departed, his whole coaching team left too.

However Nuno arrived alone. The Portuguese did not bring a massive, pre-assembled team to help him do the job: Whether due to most of his ‘team’ still being employed at Nottingham Forest after Nuno’s dismissal, who can say. Some even deemed it a Hammers cost-cutting exercise to make him coach without the backroom team.

Another appointment to the coaching staff is imminent

-----------------------------------------------------

The Hammers’ under 21 coaching staff stepped up and impressed sufficiently to be taken onto Nuno’s permanent senior side staff. Shortly after, Nuno’s own goal keeping coach [Rui Barbosa](https://www.claretandhugh.info/further-reinforcements-set-to-land-at-london-stadium/) bolstered the coaching staff. And he won’t be the last appointment. A source at West Ham has told Claret and Hugh _that there are negotiations ongoing right now to bring another recruit to Nuno’s coaching staff  – which could result in another appointment any day._

Whilst the identity of the next appointment is not known, there’s already speculation that this could be another former coaching – team member from Nuno’s Nottingham Forest or Wolves days.

This can only be seen as a positive step: Premier League competitors have seriously large coaching teams and the Hammers have to rebuild virtually from the ground up after first Lopetegui then Potter’s sacking.

Reinforcement for the first team coaching staff is a must to enable Nuno to focus on the job in hand –  to climb out of the relegation zone.
