Milner misses Brighton and Hove Albion v Leeds United but Rutter to start

Brighton and Hove Albion boss Fabian Hürzeler has made one change to the starting line up to face Leeds United at the Amex today (Saturday 1 November) from the Seagulls’ last Premier League outing.

Diego Gomez comes back into the team in place of Maxim De Cuyper as Hürzeler reverts to the starting line up when beat Newcastle United 2-1 a fortnight ago.

There is no place in the match-day squad though for veteran midfielder James Milner who comes from Leeds and started his career at the Elland Road club.

The 39-year-old has a “small muscular injury” picked up in the 4-2 defeat against Manchester United at Od Trafford a week ago.

But there is a starting spot for Georginio Rutter who became Albion’s most expensive signing when he joined from Leeds in a £40 million deal in August last year.

The young Frenchman is down to start alongside Gomez, Danny Welbeck, Carlos Baleba, Yankuba Minteh and Yasin Ayari.

At the back, Hürzeler has named skipper Lewis Dunk, Mats Wieffer, Jan Paul van Hecke and Ferdi Kadioglu, with Bart Verbruggen in goal.

Along with De Cuyper, the subs include Tom Watson, Oscar Boscagli, Charalampos Kostoulas and 20-year-old Joe Knight.

They are joined by Diego Coppola, Nehemiah Oriola, Stefanos Tzimas and reserve keeper Jason Steele.

Brighton are currently 13th in the table with 12 points from nine games, two places and one point above Leeds.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
