Reiss applauds squad depth following Burnley win

Oliver Reiss was delighted to see a large variety of his squad play an important role in City’s 5-0 triumph over Burnley.

With Under-18 players Harrison Miles, Kaden Braithwaite and Dante Headley unavailable for selection whilst they represent England Under-17s at the World Cup in Qatar, Lead Coach Reiss was forced to rotate his squad.

Charlie Holt started in the holding midfield role for the first time this season, with Yohann Obin getting his first league start of the season, too.

And they weren’t the only ones to impress, with Reiss quick to credit the squad’s depth and hard work.

“I think this is the proof of the quality of our squad,” began Reiss.

“It [was] an opportunity for some players to get more minutes starting in the game when there are some international players not with us at the moment.

“But you can see, I don’t want to say it’s no problem, it’s not easy to replace the players who are in the national team because they are special players.

“But you can see as a team we are good together, it was a more team performance so yes it’s very nice to see it’s possible to bring in other players nearly on the same level.

“And especially when we work together as a team, in terms of the relationships, that makes me happy, to be successful even when we change the team a little bit.”
