The New York Jets are likely sellers at the upcoming NFL trade deadline. While Michael Carter II has already been moved, there are plenty of other trade candidates who could be on new teams by Week 10 of the NFL season.
With the Jets on bye, there is plenty of time to negotiate, and the Jets' front office is surely busy with a ton of calls coming in for their players. No name might be more interesting than Breece Hall.
He had been floating in trade rumors for some time, and now, with just a few days until the deadline, those rumors are coming to a head. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Jets' front office is seeking strong draft pick compensation for their star running back.
The Jets are seeking at least a third-round pick in exchange for Breece Hall
"The Jets have been getting calls on RB Breece Hall for a while." Russini reports, "and while there is interest, New York is looking for at least a third-round pick in return."
The fourth-year running back is in the final year of his rookie contract. So, any team trading for Hall, which would cost at least a third-rounder, would only be guaranteed half a season with him on the team.
A third-round pick for a rental, especially at running back, is a lofty price tag for the Jets to set. While they don't have to trade Hall, if he walks in the offseason for nothing, then the Jets would've wasted a chance to land some decent return for their star running back.
However, while that price tag might be too rich for some teams, a contender in need of running back help could spend such capital to land a dynamic dual-threat running back like Hall.

The 24-year-old this season has 581 rushing yards on 117 attempts with two touchdowns, both coming in the Week 8 comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Through the air, Hall has been targeted 30 times, hauling in 21 receptions for 178 yards with his highest success rate (54.4%) in his career so far.
There aren't many teams in dire need of running back help, but the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Kansas City Chiefs could all use Hall.
For now, a trade seems unlikely given the high price tag. But if the asking price drops or a contender loses its running back in Week 9, then a Hall deal might be a lot more feasible.
