With the NFL trade deadline right around the corner, the New York Jets are fielding plenty of trade inquiries from around the NFL. They've already dealt cornerback Michael Carter II to the Philadelphia Eagles, and more trades could be on the horizon.
Breece Hall, Allen Lazard, Quinnen Williams, Quincy Williams, and Jermaine Johnson are all names who could be on the move for the Jets. And according to a new report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Eagles are interested in trading for Johnson.
However, although the Eagles are interested in making another trade with the Jets, New York's asking price for Johnson isn't cheap. Russini reports that the asking price begins at a second-round pick, potentially turning the Eagles and other teams away.
Jets' Jermaine Johnson receiving trade interest with asking price of at least a second-rounder
"The Eagles need an edge rusher and asked the Jets about Jermaine Johnson," Russini reports. "... However, New York has held a high asking price of a second-round pick or better."
Philadelphia could look to reunite Joe Douglas with another player he drafted with the Jets, after he reunited with Carter in Philly. But, while Carter was dealt for John Metchie II and a late-round pick swap, Johnson is a lot more expensive to acquire.
The Eagles would have to part with at least a second-round pick in a deal for Johnson, according to this report from Russini.
While Johnson is a good pass rusher and is under contract for more than 2025, the high asking price might turn the Eagles and any other interested team away from trying to acquire the 26-year-old pass rusher.

So far this season, Johnson has played in five games, recording one pass defended, one sack, 19 tackles, and four pressures. While his 2023 Pro Bowl season is boosting his trade value, the uncertainty with his injury history might make him a harder player to move.
While he's on a cheap rookie contract and still under control for 1.5 more seasons, a second-round asking price is likely too much for any team in exchange for Johnson.
Combined with Johnson not wanting to be moved and seemingly getting confirmation from the front office, a Johnson trade seems very unlikely with just a few days until the 2025 NFL trade deadline.
