Steelers, Bills trade rumors could lead to deadline fight for 329-yard wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills are reportedly in the market for a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline.

The Steelers need more depth behind DK Metcalf, and ideally should add a legit No. 2 wide receiver. The Bills have a need for a No. 1 wide receiver with Keon Coleman's second season not going as planned.

According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, both teams are indeed making calls and one player both teams have shown interest in is Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, although Russini adds the asking price is high.

"The Raiders have fielded calls from the Steelers and Bills on WR Jakobi Meyers, but Las Vegas has set a high price. Pittsburgh is looking at other wide receiver options, too," Russini reported.

Meyers requested a trade in the offseason after he didn't get a contract extension from Las Vegas, and he made it quite clear nothing has changed on that front.

"Oh, for sure," Meyers said when asked if he still wants to be traded. "But I'm a professional at the end of the day. I'm just trying to play good football."

With Meyers unhappy, the Raiders should send him packing before he departs in free agency for nothing in 2026. But price is going to dictate whether or not Meyers is moved, and if the Raiders don't come down on their demands, he could stay.

However, we would expect the Raiders' asking price to come down the closer we get to Nov. 4, as teams typically start high and work their way down if they are truly motivated to move a player.

Meyers isn't a true No. 1 wide receiver, but he's still a very good No. 2.

Despite being held back by poor quarterback play throughout his career, Meyers has broken 800 yards four times and managed to tally 1,000 yards for the first time in his career in 2024 despite catching passes from the likes of Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell.

Meyers is sitting with 329 receiving yards through six games in 2025 and is on pace to eclipse 800 yards again, even though Geno Smith has been awful this season.

But it's possible Meyers could reach new heights in Buffalo and Pittsburgh, as Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers would be the best quarterbacks he has played with since Tom Brady's final season in New England.

Meyers isn't the sexy name Bills and Steelers fans want, but that sexy name simply might not be available and the veteran wideout would still amount to a sizeable upgrade for both teams' offenses.
