Will NFL finally ban Philadelphia Eagles’ ‘Tush Push’?

After a dominating win over the New York Giants in Week 8, the Philadelphia Eagles are enjoying their bye week this weekend.

The Eagles are 6-2 on the season, and when they return to action, the team will meet another top NFC team in the Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles are looking to win back-to-back Super Bowls, which is never going to be an easy task. However, if you ask many fans around the league, the team has a play that should be illegal.

If your favorite team is playing the birds from Philadelphia, then chances are you’ve seen the team use the “Tush Push.”

It has been one of the most talked about players for the last few seasons in the NFL. The Eagles basically shove Jalen Hurts to a first down while the offensive line basically dives at the ground in front of Hurts.

Many have called for the play to be banned because it is basically unstoppable. I’m of the camp that it shouldn’t be banned. If you want to stop it, then stop it.

But the NFL may also now be on the side of banning the play. NFL insider Dianna Russini is hearing that the play will be a highly debated topic of discussion this offseason.

“How embarrassing for the league to say we have to take away a totally legal play because we’re not good enough to officiate it,” one high-ranking official told Russini about the play potentially getting banned.

Silly Debate

It really is beyond lame to ban this play. Sure, the officiating on the play is reaching a point where there needs to be some training on it. But this is simply a QB sneak.

It’s kind of hilarious that the league would even think about banning the play. Any time the Eagles run the play, the NFL has no problem sharing it for clicks on social media.
