One of the top players on the New York Jets roster has caught the eye of the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Insider Dianna Russini revealed on Saturday, November 1, that the Eagles “asked the Jets” about the availability of defensive lineman Jermaine Johnson.

Russini said the Eagles “need an edge rusher.” When the Jets have been asked about Johnson, they have “held a high asking price of a second-round pick or better.”

Former Jets general manager Joe Douglas is now the Eagles’ senior personnel director. On “One Jets Drive,” Douglas’ aggressive strategy of trading back into the first round to acquire Johnson during the 2022 NFL draft went viral on social media.

NFL Insider Says Jets Continue to Listen on Johnson Ahead of Deadline

“The Jets also have edge rushers of interest. The team has no plans to move Will McDonald IV, but is listening on Jermaine Johnson II. Johnson has a year left on his deal after this one, and it sounds like New York would want a second-round pick for him,” NFL Insider Albert Breer wrote in a column on Friday, October 31.

Tuesday, November 4, at 4 pm is the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

Johnson Doesn’t Expect to Be Traded

Trade rumors have been swirling around Johnson for the last couple of weeks.

On October 22, Johnson posted a “The Wolf of Wall Street” GIF on social media that featured a quote about not leaving.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini spoke to Johnson in the locker room about the social media activity.

He told Cimini that he received “clarity” from the front office on the trade rumors.

“I’m definitely wanted here, and I want to stay here,” Johnson told Cimini. “That’s been understood. Hence the tweet.”

NFL Insider Reveals Truth About Johnson Jets Trade Calls

Connor Hughes of SNY revealed on “Jets Final Drive” that the Jets have had back-and-forth calls about Johnson.

“I know that there have been ingoing and outgoing calls from Florham Park about Jermaine Johnson. This hasn’t just been teams calling the Jets; the Jets have also been calling people. I know that Jermaine Johnson is viewed around the league as a player that is available for the right price,” Hughes explained on “Jets Final Drive.”

The Truth Shall Set You Free in a Matter of Days

Johnson believes he is staying in a Jets uniform. Several Insiders have reported that Johnson can be had for the right price. What is the truth?

What happens by the Tuesday, November 4 NFL trade deadline will reveal what is truly going on.

Johnson, 26, is under contract with the Jets through the 2026 season.

Jets and Eagles Have Already Struck a Trade Ahead of the Deadline

Jets General manager Darren Mougey and Eagles GM Howie Roseman have already banged out one deal.

Earlier this week, the Jets flipped cornerback Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Philly in exchange for wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

If they worked together once, they could certainly work together again. The Jets are 1-7 in last place in the AFC East. While the Eagles at 6-2 sit atop the NFC East as we approach the deadline.
