Man Utd ratings vs Nottingham Forest, Casemiro scored but classy 8/10 star deserved to win it

Manchester United’s three-game winning streak ended in abrupt fashion as a two-minute salvo from Forest gave them a point in a 2-2 draw.

A scrappy start to the game, with chances few and far between for either side, was broken in the most expected fashion, but not the expected team.

Casemiro rose high from a corner just after 30 minutes to give Man United the lead, which they would take into half-time.

United were left in a daze with a quick one-two to start the second half, with goals from Gibbs-White and Savona leaving the team trailing in a nightmare spell.

United huffed and puffed to no avail, and needed a moment of inspiration, which was provided by Amad in the final ten minutes with an audacious volley from the edge of the box.

2-2 was a fair result on reflection, while Ruben Amorim’s belief will have been reinforced that this team is still very much a work in progress.

Man Utd player ratings vs Forest

Senne Lammens – 6.5

Cool, calm, and collected when called upon, and couldn’t do much for either goal.

Leny Yoro – 5

Forest gave him some trouble when they pressed him into the corner, and he challenged his own teammates for the ball from which Forest scored their second.

More United News

Matthijs de Ligt – 8

Turned on the afterburners for an immense recovery challenge in the first half. Classy as always. Didn’t deserve to lose.

Luke Shaw – 7

Helped De Ligt lock that left channel with aggressive defending, often stepping into midfield.

Amad – 7

Tested Sels with a drive in the first half, but some heavy touches let him down. Outmatched in the air for Forest’s opener but all was forgotten as he lashed in an audacious volley to draw United level.

Diogo Dalot – 5

Weakest part of the defence as he pondered on the ball for too long, even catching Amorim’s ire at one point.

Casemiro – 7.5

Scored another goal from a set-piece, heading authoritatively in the first half. Should have scored a second too but missed a great chance.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

Got his assist for Casemiro’s goal. Kept the play ticking from deep and played some audacious passes. Hit the post.

Bryan Mbeumo – 6.5

Continued to look dangerous even without scoring but a come-down from his usual high standards.

Matheus Cunha – 7

Progressed Utd up the pitch with some brilliant pieces of skill when pressed.

Benjamin Sesko – 5

Heavy touches saw him squander good chances. Faded away even in link-up with time.

Substitutes

Patrick Dorgu – 6.5

Gave United much-needed dynamism after coming on in Dalot’s place.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5

Got booked and lost the ball near the end, which almost allowed Forest to land a decisive punch.
