Nottingham Forest claimed a Premier League point with a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at the City Ground this afternoon.

The Red Devils – who went into the match having won four games in succession in the league – went ahead through Casemiro before early second-half goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolò Savona turned the contest on its head.

The away side levelled in the final 10 minutes on Trentside through Amad Diallo.

Forest started the contest on the front foot, with Dan Ndoye forcing a save from Senne Lammens on eight minutes with an effort from distance. The United ‘keeper turned the ball over the bar from the winger’s left-footed strike.

The Reds enjoyed plenty of play in the visitors’ half before United fashioned their first meaningful effort on target when Amad Diallo’s effort from range was parried away by Matz Sels.

The away side took the lead in controversial fashion just after the half-hour mark when Casemiro headed in a Bruno Fernandes corner, despite the ball not appearing to have fully crossed the by-line, meaning United held the half-time lead.

Half-time: Forest 0-1 Manchester United

Minutes into the second period and Forest were back on level terms through Gibbs-White.

First-half substitute Ryan Yates whipped the ball in for the Forest No. 10 to head the Reds level.

Moments later, the comeback was complete when Igor Jesus’ deflected header found Savona in the six-yard box, and the full-back finished like a forward, placing the ball beyond Lammens.

With an hour on the clock, Fernandes struck the base of Sels’ post before Casemiro put the rebound into the side-netting.

Forest bit back with a chance of their own when I. Jesus headed into the side-netting from Hudson-Odoi’s whipped cross.

The winger was next to try his luck at goal when his effort from distance whipped just past Lammens’ right-hand post with the ‘keeper at full stretch.

As the game entered its final 10 minutes, Amad volleyed the Red Devils level from the edge of the box.

In added time, Murillo reacted quickest to deny Amad a second when the Forest defender cleared the effort off the line.

The Reds return to action on Thursday evening with a trip to Sturm Graz in the Europa League.
